Dean is an internationally recognised, Orvis endorsed fly fishing guide with over 30 years experience, and has an intimate knowledge of the waterways throughout Southland, Otago, Fiordland, the Mackenzie and North Canterbury. Dean and Fiona have established Mataura River Lodge in Riversdale, Southland, located just 5 minutes drive from the Mataura River…the Brown Trout Capital of the World. Mataura River Lodge offers dinner/bed and breakfast and has extensive vegetable and flower gardens.  Fiona is a great cook and you will enjoy her homestyle, homegrown meals. There are 30 rivers/streams within 30 minutes of the Lodge and road trips throughout the South Island are also an option. Dean has built up a honest relationship with landowners and has access to many wonderful, low pressured rivers and streams.
